PERIODONTAL CAREPeriodontal Therapy
Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss. We consistently support prevention, treatment and maintenance, creating an environment that protects your teeth long term.
The scope that can be addressed with basic treatment under insurance coverage
Treatment of gum disease begins with "basic periodontal treatment" under insurance coverage. We examine the condition of the gums, remove tartar and plaque, clean and smooth the root surfaces of the teeth, and provide brushing instruction, working to remove the causes of inflammation. In many cases, this basic treatment and ongoing maintenance form the foundation.
We have been providing insured treatment since August 2026 and accommodate both insured and private (self-pay) treatment. How treatment proceeds and the approximate number of visits differ according to the condition of the mouth, so we will explain based on the results of the examination.
Prevention and maintenance
Even once gum disease has settled down, inflammation may occur again if the environment in the mouth is not in order. We support both maintenance after treatment and the building of care habits at home, creating an environment to protect your teeth long term.
HALITOSIS CAREAddressing bad breath
The cause of bad breath is not necessarily a single one. At our clinic we proceed through a process of "examination → assessment of the cause → cleaning and treatment → follow-up observation," checking each point one at a time.
Bad breath has various causes
Bad breath may originate in the mouth or elsewhere in the body. The following are considered among the main causes.
- Gum diseaseBacteria within the periodontal pockets may be a cause
- Tongue coatingDebris adhering to the surface of the tongue may be a cause
- Reduced saliva volumeOdor may become stronger due to dryness of the mouth
- Tooth decayAdvanced tooth decay may be a contributing cause
- Ill-fitting crownsDebris may accumulate in the gaps around crowns that no longer fit
As shown here, the causes vary widely, and when the cause originates in a systemic condition, coordination with a physician may be necessary. For this reason, rather than concluding from the outset that "this is the cause," we form our assessment based on examination and the course of treatment.
How we approach bad breath
-
Examination
We check inside the mouth, including the condition of the gums, tongue coating, saliva, tooth decay, and how well crowns fit.
-
Assessment of the cause
Based on the examination results, we organize and explain the possible causes. If a systemic condition is suspected, we may recommend that you consult a physician.
-
Cleaning and treatment
We carry out treatment according to our assessment, such as periodontal disease treatment, removal of tartar and plaque, guidance on cleaning the tongue, and adjustment of crowns.
-
Monitoring the condition over time
While checking the changes after treatment, we review our approach as needed. Ongoing maintenance helps keep the oral environment in order.
PREMIUM CLEANINGPremium Cleaning (self-pay treatment)
This is a self-pay cleaning menu that addresses periodontal disease, bad breath, and bite adjustment together. We take time to attend carefully to areas that cleaning under insurance coverage cannot fully cover.

* This menu is self-pay treatment. Please ask for details when booking or at your visit.
RISKS & SIDE EFFECTSRisks and Side Effects
Before proceeding with treatment, we ask that you understand the following points in advance.
- After tartar removal or cleaning of the tooth roots, temporary tooth sensitivity (such as sensitivity to cold) may occur.
- If gum inflammation is severe, bleeding, swelling, or pain may occur after treatment.
- Depending on how far periodontal disease has progressed, basic treatment alone may not achieve sufficient improvement.
- When bad breath originates in a systemic condition, dental treatment alone may not bring improvement, and coordination with a physician may be necessary.
- The effects and course of treatment vary from person to person and depend on the condition of the mouth.
ALTERNATIVESAlternative treatment options
Basic periodontal treatment under insurance coverage
Even if you do not wish to have Premium Cleaning, periodontal disease can be addressed with basic periodontal treatment under insurance (examination, removal of tartar, brushing instruction, etc.). The patient's share is 10–30%, but there are limits on materials and treatment methods.
Monitoring the condition over time
Depending on your symptoms and preferences, there is also the option of not performing active treatment and instead monitoring the situation through regular examinations and maintenance. Based on the examination results, we will discuss and decide together on an approach that is manageable for you.
